Aioli, zucchini super salad

Aioli zucchini super salad

Hello friends!

Growing up is a funny thing. One minute you are a carefree fairy, twirling in a pink tutu and click-clack shoes and the next, you are picking Universities, finding a house and buying small appliances. Where did the time go? You get to a point where you are expected to act like a grown-up, no more tantrums or crying over spilled milk…but you still feel like a child. This week I feel I have reached a crossroad in my life. I’ve started renting a flat, been to a job interview and bought a kettle. This butterfly is wiggling uncomfortably in her cocoon, terrified to leave but knows she can’t stay.

Chocolate chip cookies and real talk…

Hello friends!

Have you ever found yourself pining for love? I’m not just talking about some meaningless fling or high school crush. I mean the real-deal. Someone who will cherish you, take delight in sharing your crazy dreams and holding you when you are falling apart. My best friend has recently entered a new relationship which is all mushy, with a smattering of butterflies and rainbows. To some people that makes them wanna hurl, but for me…well it sent me into a deep funk. I feel this irrepressible desire to love and be loved. 5 words you probably use but definitely shouldn’t

Hi friends!

This post is for all of you out there who are desperately trying to be healthy. You’re grasping at straws, holding on for dear life to anything that will turn you in to one of those perky, blonde, gym bunnies who sips on kale juice and does crunches for fun. Raw Banoffee pie

Hey friends!

First of all, this week was my blogs very first birthday! I can’t believe you’ve stuck with me this long. It’s really incredible to see how much it’s grown. Thank you for coming back every week. Anyway, I’m a big believer in celebrating birthdays…or actually any such significant event. Heck, I’d celebrate National Pirate day if it meant having cake. I’d even go so far to say that I like parties more than coffee and chocolate. And on that bombshell, let’s get on with it!…

The secret life of a disordered eater…and how to break free.

Hi friends!

The desire to fit in. We all feel it at some point. We all want to be “normal,” to be liked and accepted by others. So how do you navigate this treacherous territory when food is controlling your life? When everything around you feels like a crazy whirlwind and the only sense of calm you feel is when calculating the number of calories you had for breakfast. I want to let you in on a secret…how to be free from guilt, fear and shame…and to start really living!

Monday must-reads!

Hey friends!

I finally beat the flu. It was quite a struggle, but in the end it was no match for my super vege-powered body. There is so much happening at the moment. Uni work is piling up, but I’m also really excited about the Rugby World cup (because you’re not a true kiwi if you aren’t caught up in the hype.) So if you aren’t currently yelling at the ref or singing patriotically to your national anthem, I’ve got some awesome reads for you.

The problem with labels…

Hello friends!

Remember when label makers were the latest and greatest invention? We’d go round slapping stickers on just about everything. The coolest kids in school were the ones with all of their colouring pencils labelled. I never did own a label-maker, but boy was I jealous of my friends who did.

Long before label-makers, there were human beings…and we really are the ultimate label makers.
