Pumpkin soup, romance and rugby madness

Hello friends!

I’m the first to admit that I am a hopeless romantic. It’s pretty obvious considering that my favourite movie is Pride and Prejudice (and not just the inauthentic Hollywood version either…I’m talking the extended BBC classic one.) So you would think that having watched a few too many rom-coms I would be fully apt in dating and other such flirtatious shenanigans. Wrong. I’m not sure if it is my lack of a love-life, or my natural awkwardness that makes the whole dating scene a complete and utter nightmare….

Sweet potato, spinach and feta muffins

Hi friends!

Exam season is upon us once more. I bet if you listen closely, you can hear the steam blowing out of students ears as they slump and scribble furiously over their books. Meanwhile, I am sitting here serenely sipping on a cup of tea. My fingernails are all intact, and I am not jittering down into a caffeine coma…wanna know my secret? Of course you do…

Food in a flash: Quesadillas

Hola friends!

So I’ve been home about 6 hours, and I haven’t left the kitchen yet. This is what happens people when you deprive a cook of her kitchen! So, to forget about all that and set the tone for the weekend we are taking a trip to Italia today. You need to try this recipe!

Lunch inspo

Hello friends!

You know how when you go to a restaurant and there is always that one person who takes forever to decide what to eat…then changes their mind three times?

Yeah…well that’s me. So I normally take the liberty of browsing the menu before going out. Unfortunately  the other day my dear mother told me the name of the wrong restaurant, and so all of my efforts were to no avail.

Zucchini fritters

Hello friends!

This week I’ve been riding the emotional rollercoaster that is Uni life. We have exams in two weeks, so to say everyone is feeling a little tense is an understatement. The stress is building and I’m afraid no amount of caffeine and chocolate are going to cure it. So this weekend I’m taking a break from the Big City and have gone home to get some perspective (and more food.) Also, I’ve got a delicious zucchini fritter recipe which is just calling your name… Continue reading

Vegetable soup is good for your soul…

Hi friends!

It has been far too long! I would apologise, but I’ve just made it through test week hell, so I feel that I deserve your sympathy. In my absence it appears that Autumn has slinked in quietly and made itself comfortable. Do you know, I have been itching to bundle up in scarves and fluffy jumpers since the first signs of leaves falling. However, Auckland has been tossing and turning, tirelessly between two seasons (phew, now there’s a tongue twister.)

Well, as unreliable as the weather may be, there is something about Autumn that calls for soup. Because, lets face it, soup at any other time should just be when you are sick. So bearing that in mind, I thought I’d share one of my favourite soup recipes with you.
