Hello friends!

Have you ever found yourself pining for love? I’m not just talking about some meaningless fling or high school crush. I mean the real-deal. Someone who will cherish you, take delight in sharing your crazy dreams and holding you when you are falling apart. My best friend has recently entered a new relationship which is all mushy, with a smattering of butterflies and rainbows. To some people that makes them wanna hurl, but for me…well it sent me into a deep funk. I feel this irrepressible desire to love and be loved. I feel that there is something or rather someone missing in my life.

Happy Easter! How have you been? I’m really excited to be home for the holidays (ahem, “study break.”) I can’t believe I’ve already been at Uni for 6 weeks! I have so much to tell you…but first let’s talk food. This week I’ve got an excellent (eggcellent did you say?) cookie recipe to share. If you don’t want to look at another chocolate egg again for the rest of your life, you are in luck…these are crispy, colourful and chocolate-free. Let me introduce you to…Funfetti shortbread!

Glitzy Gingerbread cookies

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!!! So all you grinches better be donning your Santa hats and sucking those candy canes.  This week I have an extra special Christmassy treat for you. We are making gingerbread cookies.  Basically I just needed to use my Christmas cookie cutters… it was about time they made their annual appearance.  I have a confession to make…I am unashamedly a cookie cutter collector (how’s that for alliteration.) I’m afraid I always succumb to the shiny, alluring temptation, but as they say the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. However, there is a cookie cutter for every occasion…and what better occasion is there than the silly season?

Deck the halls with bells of holly, FA-LA-LA-LA-LA…LA-LA-LA-LA. Tis the season to be jolly, FA-LA-LA-LA-LA…LA-LA-LA-LA…What? It”s not Christmas yet you say. You are much mistaken my friend, the silly season is well and truly upon us! (At least Starbucks says so!)

What a cracker (in the christmassy sense of the word) of a week I’ve had! Four hideous exams occurred but here I am, positively twinkling with cheer for the holidays! If I had it my way, Christmas decorations would go up in September and only come down in March. Well since that obviously isn’t happening, I’m bringing you a little smidgen of Christmas (you’re welcome.)

So this week I have Chai spiced, cranberry and cacao nib cookies (phew what a mouthful!…literally.) I have to make a wee shoutout to my gorgeous friend Rachel who suggested the Christmassy theme and inspired me to use cacao nibs.
