Just Hummus

Hey friends!

Things aren’t going so well. If any of you follow Grey’s Anatomy, you are probably fully aware of the tragic, untimely death of Derek Sheppard…a.k.a Doctor Mcdreamy. The terrible episode just aired in NZ, and even though I was prepared for it…I’m not ready to live in a world without Mcdreamy. So here I am, drowning my sorrows in a glorious pile of hummus.

Hummus is a great recipe to have up your sleeve. Because making it yourself tastes sooo much better! And get this…it’s super easy.

Once you have mastered this recipe, you can play around with all sorts of exciting flavour combos.

Basic Hummus:

  • 2 tins of chickpeas
  • 1/4 c olive oil
  • 2 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 Tbsp tahini (ground sesame seeds)
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 2 tsp cumin
  • salt + pepper

All you need to do is put everything into your food processor and give it a good blend. Add 3 Tbsp of water and blend for a smoother consistency.

Et voila! Simple as that.

Use your hummus as a topping on salad, crackers or dip in your favourite vegetable.

Try not to let your tears run into the hummus because it will go all runny.
